"Building Bridges Between Activism and Academic Research"

The Center sponsored a workshop on Saturday, November 13, 1999 titled "Building Bridges Between Activism and Academic Research." The workshop was part of the National Gay Lesbian Task Force 12th Annual Creating Change conference in Oakland, California.

Presenters included Stacey L. Sobel, Senior Staff Attorney at the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, and Bud Robbins of the Alexander Hamilton Post #448. The presentations stressed the need to accumulate specific, scientifc data concerning the impact of gay and lesbian soldiers on unit cohesion. Presentations also addressed the historical development of the GLBT veterans' movement.
